Support With Childcare Funding for Working Parents
You may be able to get:
- 15 hours a week if your child is 9 months to 2 years and
- 30 hours a week if your child is 3 to 4 years.
Eligibility
- You and your partner (if you have one) must be expected to earn on average at least £183 per week (equal to 16 hours at the National Minimum or Living Wage).
- If you, or your partner, are on maternity, paternity or adoption leave or you are unable to work because you are disabled or have a caring responsibility, you could still be eligible.
- You cannot get the 15 hours government-funded childcare for 2 year olds if you or your partner, earn over £100,000 adjusted net income or more.
Eligibility
You must be a working parent with a child under 11 or a working parent of a child up to age 17 with a disability.
Tax Free Childcare
Tax Free Childcare could save 20% on your childcare costs per year. This could mean a £2000 per year saving for children aged up to 11 or £4000 per year for children aged up to 17 with disabilities.
This is a government scheme to help working parents to pay for childcare.
Universal Credit Childcare
Universal Credit Childcare element could save eligible working parents up to 85% of their childcare costs for children aged up to 16.
If you pay for childcare while you go to work, Universal Credit can pay some of your childcare costs. This includes holiday clubs, after-school clubs and breakfast clubs. If you live with a partner, you both need to be working, unless your partner cannot look after your children.

If you’re a non- UK citizen who cannot claim benefits If your immigration status says you have ‘no recourse to public funds’, you may still get funded childcare for your 2-year-old.
Funded Education and Childcare for 2 Year Olds
If you are a parent/carer of a two-year-old who is not working or you are on a low income and you receive certain benefits you may be eligible to apply for a funded childcare place.
Care to Learn Scheme can help with childcare costs while you are studying
You may be eligible for £189 per child per week if you live outside of London or £195 per week if you live in London
You must be aged under 20 at the start of your course and the scheme is available for publicly funded courses in England. Your learning provider will be able to tell you if your course is eligible.
Eligibility
You can get Care to Learn if all of the following apply to you:
- you’re a parent under 20 at the start of your course
- you’re the main carer for your child
- you live in England
- You are either a British citizen or have a legal right to live and study in England
- Your course qualifies
- Your childcare provider qualifies
